A discovery call with Top of the Rim is a working session, not a pitch deck. You are talking to the engineer who would do the work. The goal is to see whether your environment needs Tier 3 help, and what a first scope would actually be.
Where the conversation usually lands
- Active Directory and hybrid identity Privileged access, GPO ownership, trusts, and whether on-prem and cloud identity still match how people actually sign in.
- Windows Server Host lifecycle, clustering, virtualization, and the systems that cannot absorb a casual change.
- Patch operations Whether WSUS or SCCM is a pipeline with rings and rollback, or a console that approves updates and hopes.
- Hardening and audit evidence CIS, STIG, or NIST baselines, vulnerability findings, and whether you can show scope, owners, retest proof, and a real exception register.
You do not need a perfect inventory before you call. You do need a plain description of what hurts: a coming audit, a patch weekend that keeps failing, a directory nobody wants to touch, or a smaller shop that needs a reliable systems contact.
If the fit is there, the next step is a defined engagement. If it is not, you still leave with a clearer picture of the gap. Deeper reading on those topics lives in Active Directory audit readiness, the Windows remediation package, and patch pipeline discipline.
